Project PAWS is a project initiated by Rotaract Club of Kathmandu University Medical School(KUMS) in collaboration with Rotaract Club of Matribhumi Baluwatar IOM, Rotaract Club Himalaya Patan and a non-profit organisation – Aatmoutsarga with a motive to feed stray dogs to honour their loyalty and service.
All the volunteers gathered at Swayambhu gate at 9 in the morning. It felt wonderful to see enthusiastic volunteers ready on their feet to feed the hungry dogs. We brought about 3 big containers of mixed chicken rice for approximately 100 dogs. After dividing ourselves into groups, we moved ahead to feed dogs in different directions covering the whole place. At first, the dogs were a little scared to come close to eat although they were starving but soon, one after another, the pack of dogs came to happily eat and party. As Charlie Chaplin once quoted, “He who feeds a hungry animal feeds his own soul”, it was a very heartwarming experience feeding the hungry dogs and puppies seeing them enjoying the meal.
