Reading past the lines

Searching for prophets my faith it’s paper thin

Is this life really what it seems

Stuck in this place between awake and dreams

In this Kingdom of photoshopped kings and queens

We can never feel happy with ourselves

And that’s how this story goes

Alayaa was the most beautiful girl in this world

She shined brighter than stars in the sky

But then as soon as she turned 13

She just forgot how bright she shined

Stuck in a material world of magazines

That glamorized the fake and photoshopped Beauty queens

Top 10 Beauty Tips making her feel inadequate
for the first time in her life she felt Ugly

So Alayaa stopped eating to lose weight

She spent her dinner money to buy makeup for her face !

But no matter how much she lost how much she got she was never good enough or so she thought !

Alayaa felt she could never be loved

She started cutting her wrists and hiding the scars with the gloves

At 16 an Anorexic Beauty Queen

She collapses in her tears and her blood

You told us all these lies that we must buy to keep in touch

I mean what sort of culture do we live in

When we’re defined by the shape of our face

When we’re ashamed by the size of our waist

And we’re imprisoned by the form that we take

And this is how the story goes…..

Reading past the lines

Searching for prophets

My faith is paper thin
